How to Update Excel Data Without Changing Table Headers

If you only want to update the values in your Excel spreadsheet while keeping the table header names the same, you can simply edit the data and refresh the connections. This method ensures that your PivotTables, charts, and Excel dashboards update automatically without affecting the structure of the dataset.

Step 1: Update the Values in the Spreadsheet

Edit the required values directly inside your Excel data table.

Important: Do not change or rename any column headers. Keeping the same header names ensures that PivotTables and charts remain connected to the correct fields.

Step 2: Refresh the Data Connections

After modifying the values, refresh the workbook so all connected PivotTables, charts, and dashboards update automatically.

• Go to the Data tab
• Click Refresh All

Result

Your updated values will immediately appear in all PivotTables, charts, and Excel dashboards connected to the dataset, while the table structure and header names remain unchanged.
